Back to FAQs
In many applications the circulation of air is forced to provide cooling, dust extraction or the removal of bacteria.  Even when a shelf is loaded the wire shelf allows more air to circulate than a solid one.

We use our airdeck® wire design to promote the flow of air.  For example in cold rooms that helps reduce hot spots (areas around produce that do not cool quickly) and moisture circulating. Try looking at the underside of solid shelves in chillers you may see the moisture pooling... which is where black mould can start to grow.

Sometimes hot items can trap moisture under them, if placed on solid shelves.

Not quite so obvious is the fact that wire shelves allow more light through and so storage areas can look brighter.

Wire shelves do not hold so much dust... important in archive situations

Wire shelves allow smoke and fumes easier passage and so detectors work faster... and in emergency situations, seconds can matter.
