In simple terms it means that:

The shelving will not support bacterial growth…. wooden/chipboard shelving can.

It can be cleaned... that means that the act of washing does not deteriorate the shelving i.e. making it rusty and it has no inner voids that can not be accessed for cleaning.  Shelving with slotted uprights does not usually meet this criteria.

The shelving is suitable for the hygiene standards of the storage area.  This can be quite demanding for sterile areas and food processing and could include fully welded sealed sections and cleaning with high pressure steam.  Usually as a minimum the shelving has to be movable to allow floor and wall cleaning.

Our Wire shelving and Aluminium systems will not support bacterial growth, have no inaccessible inner voids and can be made mobile.  Nylon coated, aluminium and stainless steel options are washable. 

Additionally our nylon coating has an active anti-bacterial agent which compliments existing hygiene standards and can contribute to due diligence. 

In many cases our systems are no more expensive than industrial systems but do contribute to hygiene standards.
